1 - What is H264 ?

H264 is the next-generation video compression technology in the MPEG-4 standard, also known as MPEG-4 Part 10. H264 can match the best possible MPEG-2 quality at up to half the data rate. H264 also delivers excellent video quality across the entire bandwidth spectrum — from 3G to HD and everything in between (from 40 Kbps to upwards of 10 Mbps).

2 - Does H.264 require special hardware ?

While H.264 is a computationally advanced codec, it runs on today’s shipping computers with no additional hardware required. For example, a full HD movie (1920x1080, 8 Mbps, 24 fps) encoded with H.264 plays back beautifully on a dual Power Mac G5. Internet-sized content (40kbps - 300kbps) will run on the most basic of processors, like those in mobile phones and consumer-level computers.

3 - How does H.264 compare with MPEG-4 ?

The MPEG-4 video, referred to as MPEG-4 Part 2, plays an important role in the evolution of standards for the Internet and wireless multimedia industries, where it has been widely adopted. H.264, also known as MPEG-4 Part 10, is a newer technology than MPEG-4 Part 2, providing up to four times the frame size of video encoded with the MPEG-4 Part 2 video codec at a given data rate. H.264 will undoubtedly build upon the success of MPEG-4 Part 2.

1 - What standard do H264WebCam take to capture video ?

H264WebCam capture video using DirectShow standard of Microsoft.

2 - Why could not I start program ? H264WebCam always show dialog "Timeout, Please Register This Software!"

a) when you install H264WebCam for the first time, you must sure to install a new directory, the default directory is : Program Files\Timhillone . b) If you use this software exceeding 15 days, you must register and buy it.

3 - Why could not I display my camera ?

a) You must install the camera 's driver rightly before runing H264WebCam. You?can use this programe (http://www.h264soft.com/downloads/amcap.exe) to test it . b) if amcap.exe is no problem, you can select the video window , and?set the?video color?to default (click default button). c) Click system setup dialog, then set Overlay and Yuy2 item to blank, then save your changes, restart H264WebCam. you will display your camera.

4 - Why could not I install this software to default directory ?( C:\Program Files\Timhillone\H264WebCamPro) ?

If you are XP limited user, or only a standard user, or you using Windows Vista, You have not right to write file to system directory, you can changes this install directory to : C:\Timhillone\H264WebCamPro, then OK !

5 - Why could not I connect H264 WebCam Pro from remote?

a ) You must input correct ip address and user name and password to connect remote, select correct H264 User mode. b ) If you connect remote pc from internet, you must be sure the remote pc have a internet ip address and can be reached! c ) If you have firewall in pc , you must open TCP port 17518, this is video communication port of our software.

6 - Why could not I display my capture card 's video ? (such as PCIO2000 card, Kodicom8800/4400 card, KGuard card etc.)

a ) You must install WDM driver for this device ! because only WDM driver accord with DirectShow standard! such as driver for capture chipset! b ) You can download this driver from our website, PCIO2000 and Kodicom or other capture card use Conexant BT878A chipset, driver : (http://www.h264soft.com/downloads/bt878.zip) . KGuard card and some TV card use Philips 7130-7134 chipset, driver : (http://www.h264soft.com/downloads/7130.zip) c ) You can use this program (amcap.exe) to test whether your driver is OK.
